Tenuate Review

Tenuate is one of the trade names of Diethylpropion (another trade names are Regenon, Neobes, Dietec, Liposlim).
Tenuate is an appetite suppressant. It is used in addition to dietary measures in the management of obesity for people who have not responded to an appropriate weight-reducing diet alone.
Tenuate works by causing one to feel less hungry.

The benefits of this medication tend to decrease within a few weeks and, therefore, its use is not recommended beyond a few weeks.

Tenuate helps you lose weight while you are learning new ways to eat and to exercise.

Tenuate –How does it work?

Tenuate stimulates the central nervous system (nerves and brain), which increases your heart rate and blood pressure and decreases your appetite. It is used in conjunction with an overall diet plan to reduce weight. Its nature as an amphetamine makes it addictive though, so Tenuate is only recommended for a maximum of a few weeks use.

Tenuate- Who can take?

Tenuate is recommended only for people with an initial body mass index (BMI) of 30 or greater (or 27 or greater if the person has other risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol). Body mass index is a number calculated with consideration to weight and height.

Tenuate is best prescribed for people who have failed to loose weight on diet and exercise alone, and their obesity is caused by their eating behaviour.

Tenuate - How to Take

Tenuate comes as a regular and extended-release (long-acting) tablet.
The 25mg regular tablets should be taken three times a day – one hour before meals.
The 75mg extended-release (long-acting) tablet should be taken around 10-14 hours before bedtime.
Should you miss a dose, take that dose as soon as possible, unless it is almost time to take your next dose. If this is the case, skip the missed one, and carry on with your schedule as you usually would.
Do not increase your dose or take it more often than prescribed because this drug can be habit forming. Also, if used for a longer period of time, do not suddenly stop this medication without first consulting your doctor.
This medication is usually taken for 8 to 12 weeks.
